Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the CivicReady Canada iOS application (the "App"). The App is an independent study tool for the Canadian citizenship test. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official service of the Government of Canada or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

2. Information handled by the App

The App stores the following information locally on your device so it can provide study and progress features:

• Your interface and test language choices.
• Your selected province or territory, daily study goal, reminder settings, and optional test date.
• Lesson progress, question attempts, bookmarks, mock exam results, and study activity dates.

This information is stored in the App's protected local storage. It is not sent to CivicReady Canada or to a developer-operated server.

3. Information we do not collect

The App does not require you to create an account. The current version does not collect or transmit your name, email address, precise location, contacts, photos, browsing history, advertising identifier, or study activity.

The App does not use third-party advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs, or cross-app tracking. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

4. Device features

Notifications. If you enable a daily study reminder, the App asks iOS for notification permission and schedules the reminder on your device. You can disable reminders in the App or in iOS Settings.

Read aloud. The App uses Apple's system speech service to read lessons and questions aloud. The App does not access your microphone or record your voice.

5. In-app purchases

Premium access is offered as a non-consumable in-app purchase processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple handles payment information and purchase records under its own privacy practices. The App reads verified purchase entitlement information to unlock Premium features and restore a prior purchase. We do not receive your full payment card or banking details.

6. External links and services

The App includes links to official Canada.ca resources. When you open an external link, the destination service may process information according to its own terms and privacy policy. CivicReady Canada does not control those external services.

If you contact support by email, your email provider and ours will process the address, message, and any other information you choose to include. We use support correspondence only to respond to your request, address issues, protect the App, and comply with legal obligations. Please do not include sensitive personal information that is not needed for support.

7. Retention and deletion

Local study information remains on your device until you use Reset learning progress in the App's Settings or delete the App. Device backups may retain App data according to your Apple and device backup settings.

Apple retains purchase records as needed to process and restore purchases. Support emails may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and meet legal or security requirements.

8. Security

The App uses iOS storage protections for its local data. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, but we limit the information handled by the App and do not operate a server that receives your study data.

9. Children's privacy

The App is intended as a general citizenship test study tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App.

10. Your choices and privacy rights

You can change reminder permissions in iOS Settings, reset study progress within the App, or delete the App and its local data. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights concerning personal information you send directly to support. To make a privacy request, contact us using the address below.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App's features or legal requirements change. The revised policy will show a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the App or another appropriate method when required.
